Long Beach Sprint Nationals — Up and Over

Things didn’t go quite as planned for Robby Devine, driver of the Tom Buckles owned K-Boat at the Long Beach Marine Stadium races in August.  During the first heat of racing on Saturday, Devine was dueling with Tony Scarlata in K-69 for the lead on the second lap when Devine drove hard into the turn, hit a couple of rollers and went airborne.  Fortunately for Devine, he was thrown clear of the boat and was not seriously injured.  The boat, however, didn’t fair nearly as well as can be seen in the last photo.
